GET TO KNOW GOD

Admit Your Spiritual Need. Are You Living For One?

Faith

Are you Living4One? If you aren’t sure what that means, let’s take some time to dissect the foundation of your life. What are you living for: wealth, success, or gratification? Those are all earthly things that can give you temporary fulfillment or happiness, but eventually you find yourself unsatisfied. These three will never give you fulfillment apart from God. There is only “one” who can give you purpose and the fulfillment of your heart’s desires. We live to serve and glorify “one” and He is God.

It does not matter where you are in your life. God asks us to come as we are. There is no holy ritual you must do or cloak you must wear before you present yourself to Him. But, you must be willing, sincere, and humbled. It does not matter what you have done, nor does it matter where you come from. If you are willing to take the next step in getting to know God, I would love to help you in your journey of Living4One.

For everything, absolutely everything, above and below, visible and invisible, rank after rank after rank of angels—everything got started in him and finds its purpose in him.

Acknowledge

It is easy for us to believe what the world tells us is truth. For example, the world tells us that we only live once and that we should live for the moment. It is true that we only live once, but we never truly die. The Bible expands on this topic by informing us that after we physically parish our souls will live on in heaven or hell. Our life was not an accident, nor is it the result of evolution. In fact, a loving God created each of us with a specific purpose. God wants nothing more than to have a relationship with you.

Genesis 1:27

[mk_blockquote font_family=”Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif” font_type=”safefont” font_size_combat=”true” text_size=”18″ force_font_size=”true” size_smallscreen=”18″ size_tablet=”16″ size_phone=”15″ el_class=”blockq”]For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

Psalms 139:13-16

 [/mk_blockquote]

Before your birth God already had you in mind. He knew every detail of your physical and internal makeup, as well as your family lineage. God knows the good and bad of our hearts, the deceit of our minds, and still desires a relationship with us. Regardless of what you have been through, He has been patiently waiting for the moment you would acknowledge him as Father.

God the Father is greater than any earthly father. Fathers are meant to love, protect, and provide, but only God the Father can do it with unconditional love.

[mk_blockquote font_family=”Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif” font_type=”safefont” font_size_combat=”true” text_size=”18″ force_font_size=”true” size_smallscreen=”18″ size_tablet=”16″ size_phone=”15″ el_class=”blockq”]The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever; he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

Psalms 103: 8-12

[/mk_blockquote]

God entrusted us with free will to make our own decisions. With that free will Adam and Eve committed the first sin by disobeying God’s command. As a result, sin created separation between God and man. Sin is an action committed physically, verbally, or mentally against God’s law. We have to understand that no one is without sin, but that doesn’t make it acceptable to God.

[mk_blockquote font_family=”Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif” font_type=”safefont” font_size_combat=”true” text_size=”18″ force_font_size=”true” size_smallscreen=”18″ size_tablet=”16″ size_phone=”15″ el_class=”blockq”]If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.

James 4:17

1 John 3:4

[/mk_blockquote]

God the Father sent his son, Jesus, as a man to rescue the world and give us the chance at eternal life. This was necessary because he had to eliminate the division that sin created. In doing so, Jesus Christ became a pure, sinless living sacrifice on behalf of our sins. Jesus became the bridge between God and us.

1 Peter 2:21-22

[/mk_blockquote]

God the Son, Jesus, lived a life with intention to be a servant to all and a living example. In spite of his sinless life he was still spit upon, persecuted, and mocked. This is important to know because living with Jesus doesn’t mean you won’t have difficult circumstances to overcome. Even though Jesus possessed the authority to overthrow the sentence of death by crucifixion (death on the cross) he did not because he knew it was his divine purpose. Ultimately, Jesus suffered and died a death he did not deserve. His death took the place of our sins. Jesus’s resurrection exemplified a new forgiveness from God through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Jesus was the only one qualified to pay for our sins.

[mk_blockquote font_family=”Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif” font_type=”safefont” font_size_combat=”true” text_size=”18″ force_font_size=”true” size_smallscreen=”18″ size_tablet=”16″ size_phone=”15″ el_class=”blockq”]And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross!

-Philippians 2:8

[/mk_blockquote]

With Jesus’ death and resurrection also came a gift to his believers in the form of the Holy Spirit. When you decide to give your life to Christ the Holy Spirit comes and lives inside of you. The Holy Spirit helps guide and lead us to do the things God has called us to do.

[mk_blockquote font_family=”Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif” font_type=”safefont” font_size_combat=”true” text_size=”18″ force_font_size=”true” size_smallscreen=”18″ size_tablet=”16″ size_phone=”15″ el_class=”blockq”]The Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

-John 14:26

[/mk_blockquote]

Now you know about God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. By recognizing who God is and that He wants a relationship with you, we would like to extend an invitation to accept Him.

Accept

Darrell Speaking at the Road Church

One thing we need to remember is that God never sends anyone to hell

We send ourselves there by rejecting His truth. If you acknowledge that you are a sinner, repent from your sins, accept the promise that Christ is the solution, and receive Jesus Christ as your Savior, you will be saved and begin your new life walking with Him.

[mk_blockquote font_family=”Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif” font_type=”safefont” font_size_combat=”true” text_size=”18″ force_font_size=”true” size_smallscreen=”18″ size_tablet=”16″ size_phone=”15″ el_class=”blockq”]For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

-Romans 6:23

[/mk_blockquote]

We must realize and admit that we are sinners and that Jesus died for our sins.

[mk_blockquote font_family=”Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif” font_type=”safefont” font_size_combat=”true” text_size=”18″ force_font_size=”true” size_smallscreen=”18″ size_tablet=”16″ size_phone=”15″ el_class=”blockq”]Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

ABCs of Salvation

A- Sincerely ADMIT you are a sinner and repent
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God
Romans 3:23

B-BELIEVE that Jesus is God’s Son and God sent Him to die for our sins
I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, Jesus, so that you may know that you have eternal life.
1 John 5:13

C-CONFESS that Jesus is Lord and that you need Him
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Romans 10:9

If you want to receive salvation pray this prayer.

Dear God,
I humbly come before you admitting that I am a sinner. I acknowledge who you are and what you have done for me. I desire to have an intimate relationship with you. There is nothing I can do to save myself. Only you can save me. I accept Jesus Christ, your son, as my Lord and Savior and acknowledge he died on the cross and rose from the dead so that I may have eternal life. Lord, please purify me, so that I may be a living example and can be used by you.
In Jesus Name,
Amen

If you just said this prayer, let me be the first to congratulate you on a new beginning.

You are now a Christian.

I want to encourage you to continue to grow. Continue to deepen your relationship with God by further studying His Word.

Increase Your Relationship With God

Once you decide to start a relationship with God there are things we suggest that you should do to help with your growth and to ensure you stay on the right path.

  • The first thing you should do is share with those closest to you that you’ve accepted Christ.
  • Get a Bible and read it daily.
  • Pray continuously. Praying is like having a conversation. A conversation that is ongoing and should take place throughout the day.  God loves hearing from us whether big or small, good or bad.  He wants to have a relationship with you.
  • Find friends who also follow God. These people will help support your new faith. They will help keep you accountable and will help you grow.
  • Join a church! Show up weekly and be encouraged by the message and other believers.
  • Get baptized. By getting baptized you are showing obedience to God.
  • Get involved in your church and your community; this will bring opportunities for you to share God with others.
  • Share your story
