The Chargers’ Special Teams Player of the Year in 2013 and a Team Captain each of the last three years, Darrell Stuckey came full circle in 2014.

 

He started the season by signing a new multi-year contract in March, and he ended it with an invitation to play in his first career Pro Bowl in January. In 2014, Stuckey ranked second on the squad in special teams tackles and he blocked the first kick of his career. Stuckey has long been one of San Diego’s top special teamers. In 2013, he tied for third on the squad in special teams tackles a year after tying for the team lead. Over the past four seasons, he’s recorded 51 special teams tackles while regularly facing double and triple-teams.During the 2013 season, including playoffs, Stuckey recorded six special teams tackles and downed four punts inside the 20. In 2012, he led the NFL with six punts downed inside the 20, while tallying six tackles inside the 20.

  • Stuckey is one of the Chargers’ most-active players in the community. It dates back to his college career at Kansas, where he was not only one of the school’s most-talented athletes, but also one of it’s most popular and academically gifted. Raised by a single mother, Michele Foulks, Stuckey graduated in four years. He was named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll and served in student government. Stuckey enjoys delivering motivational speeches and regularly volunteers to lend a helping hand with community projects in San Diego and his hometown of Kansas City. For the last three years, Stuckey has led a football camp at Bishop Ward High School in Kansas City, and for the last two years, he’s headed up a similar camp at Westview High School in San Diego. He also hosted a free football youth clinic at Free State High School in Lawrence, Kansas in 2014, and he sponsors the K.C. United Pop Warner Football League in conjunction with USA Football.

     

    Stuckey is also active with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. In May, he served as the host for their annual golf tournament in San Diego. Stuckey has three brothers and three sisters. His younger sister, Denae, played basketball at Iowa State. Stuckeys hobbies include painting, drawing and collecting DVD movies. He and wife, Lacie, have a son, Jayton James, and a daughter, Kinsley Ann.

    In his sophomore season in 2007, Stuckey started all 13 games at safety and was fourth on the team in tackles with 72.
    As a junior in 2008, Stuckey ranked second on the team in tackles with 98, the most by a Jayhawk defensive back since Tony Stubbs in 2003. He also led the team with five interceptions.

    In November 2009, he was named one of the twelve semifinalists for the 2009 Jim Thorpe Award. On June 10, 2010, he was named the Big 12 Sportsman of the Year for 2009-10.

    Stuckey’s 295 career tackles at Kansas were second-most all time among Jayhawks defensive backs. Only former NFL great Leroy Irvin (347) had more. As a junior, Stuckey tallied 93 tackles and became the Jayhawks’ first non-linebacker to lead the team in tackles since 2000.

    Darrell and his wife, Lacie, established Living4One in 2012. They wanted to use Living4One as a way to connect with individuals and organizations that are like-minded. In doing so, L4O became a reflection of the foundation their life is built upon.

    Darrell uses L4O to influence the youth, military, businessmen, churches, schools, young professionals, and elders of our communities. We empower all to be intentional in the way they choose to influence the world. Living4One urges you to use your gifts and talents for the good of others.

    Darrell married his college sweetheart, Lacie, in the year 2011.
    Lacie also attended the University of Kansas and earned her degree in Elementary Education. As a fulltime mother she also runs the day-to-day operations of L4O. The Stuckey’s have two children: a son, Jayton James, and a daughter, Kinsley Ann.
